I need to pull the horn pad off the steering wheel on my 06 TBSS. I'm a little gun shy due to the airbag. The horn won't work from the steering wheel, so I'm assuming it's the contacts and they need to be cleaned. It has a mind of it's own and only works about 5% of the time when I push it. The horn itself works, verified by the alarm function. Relays and fuses are good.

way I was told at one point was to disconnect the battery from the vehicle, pull the airbag relays/ fuses and let it sit for a LONG time. then have at it.
Disclaimer: not to be blamed for any accidental popping of airbags.

There are two small holes - one on each side of the wheel. Stick a rod in the hole on each side, which will release each side of the airbag. There is a spring catch holding the center to the main wheel, which the rods release.
Once released, you'll have two connections for the airbag on the center section. Remove those to set the center out of the way.
Now you have access to the main wheel. You can see the white plastic wire thingy sticking out of the wheel. Push in and turn it to unlock it. That is one horn wire. You'll notice the main bracket in the wheel has springs and makes contact to the column when presses. Thats the 'button' function of the horn. Check the contacts where both of these parts would complete the horn circuit.
Oh yeah - good seeing ya Fast4.8.
