Even if you get them to warranty it the problem won't go away. I would call Matt at Tune Time performance he makes a mod for the stock oil pan that will never fail and prevent this from happening again which is what you really want not just the carnage it did fixed.

Well they gave me a 0 miles brand new long block along with oil pan, accessories etc etc...

If I did anything with the oil pan I would go with the C6 pan and pickup

Oh ok I didn't know if you were AWD or RWD. The c6 pan is for RWD guys. Modding the oil pan is the best bet for us AWD guys. EIther way glad to hear they took care of you. Good luck with the new setup.

What caused this to happen? I am TBSS illiterate. Is it oil starvation due to oil pan design?

TBSS oil pans are a crap design. Yes oil starvation due to front sump designed pan

I saw that pcmforless has a redesigned pickup tube that they are going to sell to fix the problem. I don't know the full details on it yet. Just saw it on there facebook. If that is the case, it should be cheaper than getting a new pan.

Any more clarification than "its because its a front sump pan"?

I run a front sump Gto pan on my ls2 240 and I do track days where I'm hanging the *** end out full throttle in third gear.

Its the way the pan is designed on the TBSS. The front diff goes through the pan and the pickup is in front of that. Under hard launches/acceleration the oil moves away from the pickup and sucks air. Mines 2WD but still uses the AWD pan, you can actually look through the pan where the stub shaft is suppossed to go. I personally run a 1/2 - 3/4 qt over full on oil to try and prevent this. No problems yet but I have never beat on it at the track.

After reading all the post on here I found this: Relocated Oil Pump Pickup Tube Kit

I'll just go with that rather than a new pan.
