Default Difficulty removing clutch fan

Difficulty removing clutch fan

07 saab 97x 5.3i

Can’t hold water pump from turning this water pump is smooth on front there aren’t 4 bolts on the water pump pulley. there aren't any holes in the pulley either.

Here is the tools I got from advance auto no one there knew how to use these tools.

The big wrench isn’t an exact fit on the clutch fan nut there’s a possiabilty of rounding it off if it’s on real tight.
I'm starting to think I have the wrong tool if I remember correctly it's called a spanner wrench which I've never used either.

Please need advice to lock down waterpump pulley.thanks for any advice.

additionalley are the 6 cylinders fan the same as the L33 v8 5.3litre engines fan? this fan is kindof pricie to replace. I may be able to recycle from the junkyard.

been watching videos I'm not wanting to destroy anymore stuff so that rules out vicegrips holding the pulley.
not interested in beating on the nut w/ a chiel then ruin the water pump no thanks.

maybe a oil fliter wrench mite hold the pulley?

this is a new vehical to me so I don't know much about it.so feel free to explain to me that's if you feel like it.

With the belt tight... I used a 15" adjustable wrench and smacked the handle with a hammer to remove the fan. Loosened up first try.

mite have to get out a hammer hate to break more stuff. I assume the sudden impact of hammer is acting as a impact. I believe I've got the wrong wrenchs.
have you heard of a spanner wrench? I maybe mistaken.

I must be overlooking something.

BTW the truck sound clips sounded awesome you strike me as someone thats drives like that everyday when applicable.keep up the good work.

Thanks I drive the truck about twice a week weather permitting.

Check out Youtube there are many different ways of removing the fan. This is the method I used and it worked well for me. If you think there may be some corrosion it may be a good idea to hit the threads with some penetrant oil and let it soak a bit, then wipe clean before trying.
