Default trailer brake controller?

im in the market for a trailer brake controller, and when looking at them, they say plug and play with factory towing package, i dont have a factory towing package, but i bout one of those 7 pin adapters that plugs into the big round plug that was above the spare tire, and was wondering if a trailer brake controller would work with my setup.

I bought a Tekonsha brake controller and harness for my truck that literally plugged into the black fuse panel under the driver's side. Check if you have that provision.

You should have all the hook ups since you have the 7 pin plug. Like swift said all you need is the controller and the wire harness for your year of truck.

I wouldn't recommend getting anything more then a basic digital controller. Honestly an analog one would be just fine but digital isn't that much more($20 or less usually) and it has a bit more adjustability.

I run a draw-tite activator 2 controller in my duramax. Its Digital. Goes by .5 increments and can handle a 4 axle trailer. $80 for the controller. I had a local trailer shop install it with the plug and play harness for $95

ok, so im looking for something cheaper, and can be removed easy. i only plan on towing this trailer 2-3 times, only to get a project car to the exhaust shop and to my work to perform an alignment. any recommendations for that?

That is the simplest install of all. Don't! !! 2 trips would be a waste to install a controller

I have one I pulled off my truck that plugs into the factory setup that I will never use. Was going to sell it, make an offer if interested. Will let it go cheap.

why? idk if i would need it in the future, as of right now though, i would like to be able to stop my truck safely. i just dont want to clutter up the cab with a permanently mounted brake controller.

I see you added hydro-boost from your build thread, add SS brake lines and done. I would say GMs factory brakes are good for a RCSB.

I would say if your towing anything that needs a brake controller, your 4.8 RCSB would mostly likely be beyond its factory recommend limits. However I have towed more than my max limit
