In your case though I'd still go with the 285's.

Thanks, I rubbed with my 285/75/16 XTerrains, and then with the Nittos as well. No issues with the current setup rubbing, and I've been harder on these than I was with the others. The only area that is trimmed is right behind the washer fluid reservoir, but that was necessary for the other setups before. I'm sure it will look good though

i didnt think 305 would fit a 8.5 rim. ive got 315s on the trans am and have a 11" rim and its perfect.

It is fine, I haven't noticed any ill effects of a 12" tire on an 8.5" wheel. I ran my 285s (11" wide) on a 16x8. Hell I've seen people run 12.5s on 7" wide wheels without any problems (though I don't recommend it) so I think 8.5 and 12 is good

The 285/50R20's run on 8-10" wide rims, the 305's run on 8.5-11". I would still run the 285's on the 8.5" wide rim like you were planning so that your truck doesn't feel like a dog off the line. 305's look best with a little lift in my opinion, or at least fender flares.

To me it all depends on backspacing. What wheels did you order 11secondhorse? I wouldn't run a 285/50, but that's just me

i havent ordered rims yet, but i am thinking of the American Racing Trench in all black. http://customwheel.com/custom_wheels/images/m320.jpg i tinted dark, stripped my badges and stupid pinstripe the other day, now i just gotta get rid of the chrome on the bumpers and side door guards, get all black rims, and this thing will be officially "murdered out
