I've been told by some folks that own off-road shops that, if you use keys to level the GMT-800 chasis out. You can't subject um to harsh treatment offroad, due to the stress put on the bars from them being twisted.
Is this true? I don't wanna lift my truck because I'd have to buy a ladder for my mother-in-law to get in it. I really just wanted to level it out because the *** is clumsy under hard braking, and I hate how the nose is slammed in the ground in the first place. It's annoys me off-road, although it performs well in the worse circumstances.
I'm just wondering if somebody knows about this because if it's true, I guess it's getting a 3" lift, and mom-in-laws gets the ladder.

Twisting the bars will offset the geometry if more that 1-2" but as far as stressing the T-bars, that is plain BS. Your CV boots might tear but you wont hurt the bars. If you can afford a true lift do it. Twist the bars a little is fine but stiffens the ride a bit.

I say screw the mother in law... mine sucks lift it to the sky. You may be able to leve out the truck only cranking up the stock keys. If not I have ford keys in mine and it did go through a full set of ball joints. The balljoints may have been from 150,000 miles + or - but still the keys will give you a little harder ride and make the mother in law of yours ask to stop for the bathroom more often.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that the 07 3/4 ton Silverados will retain torsion bars though, as a buddy of mine has an 07 3/4 ton Yukon XL 4wd (GMT900) and it has torsion bars.

I have had my bars cranked for a couple years and have had the truck airborn once or twice, suspension compresses to the bumpstops upon landing, and never ever had an issue with the bars or CV boots. Go for it and don't worry about it.
