hey everyone im trying to get some parts ordered up here so i can start piecing together my rear end. i think ill be picking up an open carrier from the junkyard out of an 8.6 and be going with a mini spool. my question is i dont see an exact fit for the 8.6 mini spool, is the spider gears in the 8.5 and 8.6 the same? if so technically this will work correct? if anyone could point me in the right direction itd be greatly appreciated

No, the 8.5 and 8.6 have different spline counts.

 

i thought the 8.5 was still a 30 spline as well?
