Default Lifting or Levling ?

I have a 2004 1500 crew cab and its been a great truck. Instead of trading it in and buying a new one, i have decided to put a little into this truck and keep it with it being paid off. I dont do any hardcore off roading and pull a trailor to and from the track for my tailor queen. I would like to beef it up a little but nothing crazy. I want to maintain the ride and i dont want to take away from pulling the trailor. I have 20 inch wheels already with a stock size tire.

What size tire can you run with a leveling kit?

I have always been told that if you do a lift suspension is better then body.. true or false

Open to ideas and opinions.. Pics go a long way to.. Thanks in advance for any help..

Leveling the truck is no biggie..Rough Country sells a nice kit for pretty cheap..

I ran 285/70/17's (almost 33") on mine leveled out but some have ran 315 70's (35") with the right wheel's..
I will say going from the 285's to the 255's i have now was a massive improvment when towing the jeep (3.73 gear)...

Do you have a size and tire in mind you wanna run???

Well seeing your in the hills of ky id just stick with the 285's..
Its not real hard but you will need a torsion key unloading tool, several companys sell it..

Here is mine with 285's

I used to run 285/75-16's, which are almost 33's, on this truck, and I didn't even touch the torsion bars, although I believe that the dealer may have cranked the bars when they PDI'd it and put it on the lot for display. I always thought, and also had a few people tell me, that my truck looked higher and more level than most others.

Last summer we put keys in tdrumm's 06 V-Max (Ford Green Keys maybe?), and lifted the front end a bunch...actually had a Cali rake to it when we were done, and we left it that way since Tom has a plan to raise the back of the truck also I believe (bigger lift blocks or something). I know that he has plans for bigger wheels and tires, just can't remember what size I know that he definitely has room for something bigger than 33's though

Here's what my rig used to look like back in the day, before I did the poor man's 4x4 drop...and still want more

They were ford keys, and yes, it was way Cali when we first put it down, and we actually dropped it to just a little Cali and to get it off the bumpstops. Still havent done the blocks, but I've finally settled on 305/55/20 (33.5") tires. If I wanted I could get 315/70/17 on my stocks as was stated before.

Whoa easy o the Kentucky jokes haha IMO I like to see trucks leveled out I really don't like lifts at all but leveling is very clean look
If you have 20s I think a 305 would fit perfect a 285 seems a lil too small for me but a 315 would be sweet if it'll fit with out rubbing
I know on dmax if u raise torsion bars and out 315 BFG they will rub
So in conclusion IMO 305/50/20 with a leveling kit u shouldnt haven't to adjust torsion bars should look awesome 315 will prob rub but would look awesome
