that is a good point. turn the v8 truck into a purely street/strip, do 2/4 drop and call it a day. best of both worlds sitting in the driveway

I put a Fabtech 7.5" lift on my '95 Silverado almost two years ago. It holds 35x12.50's just fine. I had never installed a lift before and everything went on pretty smoothly...aside from stuffing the springs in.

How do you like the lift? Is there enough ground clearace now for what you do? How much offroading and what type of offroading do you do? Do you regret not having a 4wd ? Does the lift only fit the extended cab model? I got alot of questions because I want a 4wd but cant really afford it right now so im thinking about getting the same lift for my 2wd reg cab diesel, Thanks

beastmode, if you want 285's, you'll need the Rough Country 3" lift spindles and the Daystar 2" coil spacers. I have the 2" spacers and have more than enough room for my 265's; I bet I could fit 285's, but they would scrub when I'm turning and hit a bump. As far as the rear, either a 2" or 3" lift block kit will be plenty. This will have you sitting as high as a z71 that has cranked torsion bars. FYI, the z71's come factory with 2" blocks in the rear. As far as your shocks go, you should be okay in the front; I don't know about the rear.

I love the lift. Any offroading I do is of the mischievous sort...revenge on front lawns, taking short-cuts across fields to avoid traffic, and sometimes just good old-fashioned trespassing. So for my needs it is fine and I have never wished for a 4WD. The lift that I installed only fits the ext cab models...there are a few other lifts out there you might want to consider that will fit your truck.
