89 f150 engine swap
i've got a 89 f150 that was origanally equipped with a 4.9l inline 6. my dad got the truck new in 89, its my new toy now. its been a good motor for a long time but i'm going with a v8 because i'm planning on about 10-12 inches of lift and atleast a 40" tire. ive been looking at a 5.0 HO out of a lincoln because i can get it cheap. i need to know what would be involved as far as wiring and fuel system for the truck. i know i need motor mounts for the V8 from a truck, and the wiring harness and ECM out of the car but i just need to know if it can be done fairly easily or if i should get a carbed motor and not mess with the hassle of wiring. any thoughts or comments welcome

youll need all the wiring harness, need a new fuel pump for the higher flow, computer, more than likely the dash and everytrhing since all of it runs through the harness, its ALOT of work, but trust me the difference in gas mileage will be worth it. i have a 85 with a straight 6 and was going to do the same swap but havent got around to it but from everything i've read its worth the hassle

i did the reverse of what your thinking about doing i took the motor from a truck and put it into a car heres some issues i ran into
-oil pans are different need truck oil pan and pick up
-upper plenum is different is about 4 inces shorter on car model
-the truck motor mounts stand about an ince taller then car ones
-beware that the what ever accessory drive you use to use the water pump that comes with it as the water pump's turned in different directions

transmission bell housing for the 460 blocks was different then the Windsor block (the L6 uses this pattern) so a transmission swap would be necessary to accommodate this tho the Cleveland 351 would be a good option if you wished to go to a carb and retain the stock transmission it would offer more power then the 302 (5.0) would
