Dude you're going to be slow if you leave it stock, put on a 3" kit or a 35" kit with that 4.3L.

A lift kit isn't going to slow you down much at all. It all depends on what size tires you run. If you run 35's, your truck is going to feel like you're driving a school bus. Hell even if you run 33's you're going to have the same problem.
Even if you re-gear it will certainly help, but in the end it's a 5000 pound truck with a v6 in it.

Don't cheap out on a lift. I've done it, others have done it too, you'll regret it. All the 6" kits I have seen use a spindle and larger coil springs which will make your truck ride like ****. Buy something like a 4" CST spindle lift or do step up to the 7" pro-comp/fabtech lift.

i know the tires will make me slower. but im not gonna leave the tires ive got on it right now. they are the biggest ones that will still fit but if there 7 inchesfurther away from the truck it will look bad with them. so id have to get new tires. making me slow again.

if you leave the stock tires, it will look silly unless you run just a body lift or something. You do need at least 5" though to clear 33's and not have to trim

Old post, but yeah those 6" kits are crap. They put the upper balljoint at a terrible angle too. I guess that's cool if you like going through balljoints though

What ever you do I'd get 33" tires and either a bottle or some boost.

trade in the 4.3, then get a 5.3L that's used with a lift already on, then just get whatever wheels/tires you want

Why do you care if your truck is fast...its lifted. If you care anything about speed don't lift it.

If you want to lift it but don't do a lot of off-roading you should just get a body lift. This will give you the tire clearance without spending loads of money on a suspension kit you won't take advantage of.
If you do go off-roading then do the suspension lift, or both. I go mudding and climbing with my blazer with a 3" body and it works fine for the larger tires, but would love a suspension lift for more ground clearance.
