4.8 w/ lift, need your input
#1
Hey I just recently purchased a 2003 rcsb with a BDS suspension lift w/ I think it has 33's or 35's....not sure I'll have to look closer when I leave class, anyways my question is for those of you with lifted 4.8 liters, what kind of gas milage are you getting? I have gotten 11 mpg the last two fill-ups. I reallize its a lifted truck and has oversized tires, but damn I thought it would be better then that. The truck has only 64k miles on it so I don't think it needs too much tune up wise. For performance mods it only has exhaust; a glass pack w/ dual tips. Any info would be much apreciated. I plan to put in some efans and cai eventually. Thanks, Rob

With 33's on mine I am getting around 16-18 on the highway and that was with 2 different cams and a 5.3 with 3.73 gears. So not sure sounds like you should be getting better then you are.

You're just having to use all of the engines power to move the truck. The harder you work the engine, the more fuel you're going to use. Give the engine more gear and/or more power and your mileage will get better. Don't hold your breath for more than 15 or so though, it's still a lifted truck. If it was mine I would throw in gears and a tune and see what happens.

Need to regear to 4.56's if you have 35" tires. or 4.10's with 33" tires.
I did one for a buddy. 35" tires and 4.56's 4.8L,had tuning, shorty headers,Borla exhaust,CAI. It ran very well for a 4.8L.Did not have any trouble smoking the rear tires, even with a Yukon duragrip in the diff.
