Default 2500 GM. 30.5 to 33.3? whats needed

Hey guy,

if i was to replace the stock 245-75-16's =30.5" tires with 255-85-16's = 33.3 on 2500 4x4 suburban what all would i need to do? Thats a difference of a 2.8 over all height, but considering its round the total tire height would obly be 1.4 ince taller.

Ive looked at the Torson bar keys, but are there any other options that work better. Im not looking to go big, just slightley larger tires and to set level.

Thanks
Shawn

If you're going to go taller you probably want to go a lot wider too. I'd go with something closer to a 285/75-16. That's a 32.8" tire, as opposed to the 33.1" you're asking about. Not much difference. 285/75-16 is a popular size too, and you shouldn't have to do anything to clear them. I'm assuming your truck is a 99+? If it's pre-99 they won't clear as well.

285/75/R16s(aka 33x11.50R16) only rub at full lock on a stock HD suspension, just crank the tbars and it wont rub at all, oh and they WILL fit on stock wheels(have pics of needed)

im sure 255/85/r16 wouldnt rub much, if any being as they are narrower and the 285/75s rub the inner fender only

you might want to go with a wider tire,

That size that you have, . . . it's going to make it look like the older style 1 ton fords. A big truck with a tall and skinny tire

true, but a 255-85 is wider than the stock 245-75.

i loved the look of the 1996 Ford 3/4tons, that is why i am putting on 235/85/R16s instead of my stock 245/75/R16. They are the same height as 265/75/R16's, but they are narrower and are less secpetible to the dreaded bulge. Plus, those fords kicked **** in snow!
