I have both of the crane tools, and after looking at the vid, I'm sure that the Proform tool will work great for you. I do recommend putting a little anti-seize on the threads of the stud.

I want to think that my dowel rods are 5/16" dia. Been using the same ones for a couple years now.

2nd that, 5/16 rod is ideal but u can get it done with 1/4 rods no problem. U should have plenty time for both ur cam swap & UFC whatever they're up to now.lol

Have someone record the fights for you and get the cam swap done!

I got the swap done this weekend and this little tool worked awesome. The first couple of sets were a little bit cantankerous but after getting the "feel" of the tool it worked flawlessly.

Awesome, that's good to hear! I figured that it would work just like the Crane tool, it looks just like it

Just noticed, for anyone who's looking for a tool like this, but would prefer the one from Crane/Vinci for whatever reason, that Vinci High Performance dot com is selling the Crane tool for $99. That's the cheapest that I've seen that tool for so far...but still more expensive than the ProForm that RSTinOKC reported to work flawlessly

Just to add, I bought (2) pen magnets before the swap; lifters were not a broblem but damn did they come in handy to pick up dropped valve locks. Another tech-tip: you can use the pen magnet(s) to hold the valve you are working on in the full-on up position while placing the valve locks and it will help to keep them in place. Even though timing marks showed TDC every valve seemed to still have about 1/8" to 1/4" of play left in them so the pen magnets proved very useful.

P.S. Dowel rods worked great, thanks guys!

Good tip on the pen magnets, that's what I use to remove the keepers, as well as pick them up if I drop them I put a little white lithium grease on the valve side of the keepers to hold them in place when I reinstall them
