This pisses me off. I have a pretty substantail tool collection wth 99% of the hand tools being Craftsman.
1. Because they are/were guaranteed for life and
2. They were made in the USA.

I have no problem paying a little more for a quality product and if that means leaving Craftsman for Snap-On, then so be it.

 

**** as shitty is man I even have a snap on or two as of recent that have said made in china on the damm package WTF snap on come on

 

So I wonder if you could sue craftsman for a crappy product if you broke say a socket and you smashed your hand? I know normally you couldn't but if you were doing the same thing you've always done with their American made version and the Chinese version fails due to inferior quality

I'd never do that but I'd just like to Sears hurt bad for this **** they're pulling. I'm just pissed that my made in the USA tools if I break them will be replaced by China ****.

I've noticed that their ratchets and screwdriver quality has gone downhill in the last few years. I use snapon ratchets, and husky screwdrivers now.

 

I have a old "usa made" craftsman ratchet, still works good. but not better than my 4 snap-on's do

 

All husky tools are made in china... Klein screwdrivers are made in the usa. I used a KD brand ratchet, made in the usa...Then it finally let go on me. Havent had the chance to replace it yet. Hope they still made in the usa

 

Wright tools, look them up. 100% american made and really nice tools.

 

I use craftsman too for sockets and they're newer stuff seemed cheaper imo. Sucks bc they were decent stuff before. I use Matco ratchets though.

 

Most of craftsman's lineup is China/Taiwan these days.....it's been that way for at least a year. Not that the USA sockets were of any quality anyways. Seems like every deep shank craftsman socket I have bought post-2000 has been a pos that splits on stuck hardware. As soon as sears started charging $90 for an incomplete set of ratchet wrenches.... I stopped buying craftsman. I used to buy ratchet wrenches for $39 a set, and I know manufacturing costs haven't gone up.

And all the current Craftsman (Waterloo rebadged) boxes are made in China or Mexico now.

 

I Bought some more craftsman tools today. Bought another screwdriver kit. I have never had any issues with craftsman and they still have a warranty and I haven't noticed any of my tools being less quality.
