Default Denton County

For those of you who live in Denton county, or anyone else who can help, I've got a question.

I moved to Lewisville a few months ago and have a bit of a predicament. Lewisville is in Denton county, and Denton county does emissions testing. Unfortunately, my truck is not old enough to be exempt from the testing. I'm not sure how much longer my motor can keep limping along before I have to do a swap (valves are clacking, smoking a lot, etc), and here are the options... 1) do a direct swap with a 350, or something along that line, and put all the emissions equipment on, or, 2) do a 5.3/6.0 swap and put all the emissions equipment on for that. The only thing about the 5.3/6.0 is I don't know how "legal" it would be since it's not the original equipment and parts.

As long as the engine is swapped to something newer, it is emissions compliant.

And as far as getting an inspection, it's going to be hard since you don't really know anyone.
