No, it's an EEPROM chip, meaning that the code is hard-coded into the chip. When they flash it with a Tech2 they're actually re-writing the coding on the EEPROM.

Ok, do you know where on the tech II do you get into these features? I have access to a tech II or MDI, but I don't know where to go or what exactly to do to reprogram the cluster...

Does anybody know what brand, pin size, style of eeprom chip they are? I may have somebody local who can program the chip

Hate to bring this thread up again, but like asked above, does anyone know the exact way to use the tech 2 to program the cluster for the trans temp? I have everything installed and access to a tech 2, but don't know where to get started. Thanks

You can't flash any module including the speedo without a subscription to GM's programing site that has all the calibration files.
