Cleaning up under the hood
#1
well this is the first time i've posted anything on here so here goes. this may sound a bit crazy or even a waste of time but its a good excuse to go out in the shop. i would like to clean up the engine bay on my 03' sierra. ive read a few posts on swapping the truck intake for a LS1 intake too make it look better but you give up alot of bottom end performance. I've seen a few truck intakes smoothed and painted. makes the intake look alot better. i also want to go with aftermarket fuel rails. the factory rails on my truck now has the fuel pressure regulator incorperated in the drivers side fuel rail with a vaccum line going into it. would i be able to run a returnless system? or buy an aftermarket regulator too take care of this? i also have another intake off an 04' 5.3L truck that is returnless and does not have a vacumm line going into the regulator. can i just swap intakes with no problems?

yes u can use an after market regulator that has a return. If u get after market fuel rails u will have to make ur own mounts probably. Any Ls intake will bolt up. the new style truck intakes have better flow than the old w/bigger throttle body. If u get an intake that dont have EGR u will have to remove it and block it off in ur manifold. U will also have a code if u dont delete it. I ported and shaved my factory 03 intake. since that pic i shaved the original fual rail mounts to. Its a lot of work. Here is a quick peek at one i was going to use but it wont hold 20psi of boost lol.
