Default where to tap

just wondering where some of you guys tapped in your 12+v gage power( a positive that turns on with you instrument cluster)
when i went and did the test light routine i found that on mine its a negative switch. meaning i hooked up my test light to the battery 12v+ and it gave me the signal i was looking for, but when i hooked it up to a negative it wouldnt work.Sorry kind of noob question just a bit stumped

open up the fuse box on the side of the dash, use a test light on various fuses and try different positons with the key, (accesories, run, etc..)

cruise control is allways my favorite for 12+ switched power, it can be found in the fuse box on the side of the dash... my reasoning is that for stereo related items it gives no feedback and if I ever blow the circuit (never have) it's only cruise control, I can still make it home.

His truck might not have a Acc. catch it at the ignition harness.

Get a 7mm socket take off plastic under dash.

Then get a 10mm socket with an extension take off the metal knee protector under the steering column.

Tap into PINK for Ing. or ORANGE for true ACC. wire using a fusable link.

Good luck

that is the best way for tapping an ACC, but not all the silverados have the same colored wires. the ACC in my 06 was brown.
