for the price alpine type r 6.5" components and type r 6X9's. get yourself a 35-75watt rms 4 channel amp and run them off of that. not too expensive and it will sound like a freakin concert in there.

I'm sold on MB Quart. I've had the ones in my Camaro for the past 13 years.

Well i think i have narrowed down my search. I went to Car-Toys (gay place to say the least) and i heard some Focal 165VBs, MAN THEY SOUNDED GOOD!!! so they are on my list. I really wanted to hear some Alpine Type-X speakers but that store was gay and did not have any.... the Focals and Alpines i am looking at have alot of good reviews, mainly the tweeter not being tooooo harsh and with decent mid-bass. so my short list below...

Alpines

Alpine SPX-17REF
Type-X REF Series 6-3/4" component speaker system

or

Alpine SPX-17PRO
Type-X Pro Series 6-3/4" component speaker system

Focals

Focal Access 165 A1
6-3/4" component speaker system

or

Focal Polyglass 165 VB
6-3/4" component speaker system

I say that the ones you thought to yourself, "man those sound good". are the ones you should get. save up and get what you want and dont do it twice.

Focal > Alpine, easily IMO.

I heard the 3 piece component set in a civic SI that put my system to shame, and I think mine sounds good for what it is.

Ya, when i was at car-toys they cranked up the focals LOUD! they had zero distortion crystal clear sound... Eventually i had to tell the sales guy to turn it down... they actually had some really good midbass. The installer guy came in and showed me the various settings on the crossovers for the tweets... IMO the tweets turned down sounded best...
