What year did they add USB to GM trucks?

It's not "just a cable" unfortunately. The 07-09 radios do not support the USB drive directly. If USB is a deciding factor than 2010 or newer is your better option for the OE route. Otherwise the aftermarket car audio world is your best venue.

Don't base your GMC truck search on auxiliary input or USB connections, find the best truck for you with low miles good on gas and color that you like,
most likely you will replace the radio before you change tires, but if that is not the case you can buy the auxiliary input adapter or iPod or usb for almost any gmc truck and install it in a few minutes, this are simple to plug behind the factory radio, or if you have xm the adapter plugs behind the glove box, no need to pull the radio out
