Default Voltage Problems

So here is my problem. I had a 99 4.3 v6 which just wasn't cutting it so last November i did a 5.3 swap and since then i have upgraded to E. Fans. This summer they have been on alot since i live in Mesa, Arizona and it gets very hot. When they are on My voltage gauge drops to 12 or 13 volts and then if i am listening to the radio with the AC on high sometimes lower. I installed dual batteries and this helped. Eventually i am going to put on a 160amp alt but not for a while. Here is my Big question. I have one brown signal wire going to the alt. If i put in a 470 ohm resistor inline would this boost my alternator output? Alot of the guys with the swaps have to do this to make thiers work right. Would this overdo it and fry my alt or just give it a boost?

PS I don't know **** about resistors other than thats the size they were using. This may be a very stupid and bad idea.
