Default Tips on buying a head unit or what to look for???

I need a single din head unit for my jl speakers and subs. My alpine finally crapped on my after a long 10 years of service.

I want a head unit with lots of fine tuning, as I am all about quality and not loudness. My price range is $100-200 and I want the best bang for the buck.

I was looking at the (Alpine CDE-HD147BT. It has 9-band parametric equalizer with 11 preset tone curves. And a tuning app for my iphone with over 3000 custom sound parameters. Its on sale for $170 free shipping no tax.

What do yall think? Any other recommendations or comments are more than welcome.

Go to a car audio store and spend some time playing with a few models. The most important factor for me is if I like the controls and if I can figure out the features easily. Sound quality is usually about the same across the board IMO.

That's a good idea, yeah easy controls are always a positive. My alpine was top of the line 10 years ago but now the $100 entry level head units sound better. Technology

What head unit do you have?
