I suggest you set your amp with a DMM this time around so you know the exact power your giving your new sub. Just because an amp will put out 600 watts doesnt mean you have to give all of it to the sub.

what does being a college student and downloading music have to do with anything?
First: You can download perfectly clear music.
Second: That truck wasn't exactly cheap so you COULD afford music. (not condemning you for downloading just stating that taking the "broke college student" approach doesn't work when you have a $25k+ truck with thousands of dollars of aftermarket modifications done.) Not exactly my definition of "Broke College Student".

What he means by dirty is maybe not getting a good ground connection and the signal isn't clear or like having the radio's equilizer putting the music out of the speakers ranges and turning it up past it's ability where it starts to distort.
All speakers have an operating range that they work within and if you try to go outside of that you make them blow out.

Congrats on the Memphis's. You'll love em.

listen dude i dont exactly appreciate your remarks about my financial status. what do you know about how my finances are? You think that because i have a nice truck makes me rollin in dough? maybe you forgot about how expensive college can be, or maybe you didnt even go. but you are right, maybe i didnt understand exactly what he ment by the term "dirty Music" but when i think of the term, i think of the poor quality downloads people recieve off limewire that have shitty hi's and more often than not are already re-tuned to giv out the most bass possible. so excuse me for bein missinformed. the whole point of this site is to findout knowledg you didnt already know.

Hey man calm down. Maybe it is not fair for him to comment on your financial status just by knowing what type of truck you have but at the same time a nearly brand new truck with all the stuff you have done to it doesnt help your case much.

The poor quality of the music really doesnt have as much to do with a bad signal as having the amp improperly tuned. When the gain, bass boost, etc. is turned up to the point of the amp clipping and the bass becomes distorted this "muddies" the signal which can blow subs and can eventually take out an amp if left like that. This is why I suggested in my earlier post that you set the gains of the amp with a DMM so this will not happen again. Just my .02 you can do with it what you like.

I wasn't trying to call you rich. I was just pointing out that saying "I'm a poor college student" isn't any kind of excuse for Anything when you have a new truck and thousands over thousands in modifications.
I didn't say going to college is cheap. I was just saying not to use it as an excuse. you appear to be doing good with all those mods and congrats I hope you finish your college and don't run into much grief doing so.

I wasn't trying to call you out or anything so I apologize if i hurt your pride there a little. I wish you well and hope you get to take full advantage of whatever degree you plan to get. It just didn't seem fair to say "i'm a poor college student that can't afford music" when you are clearly getting by apposed to the real poor college students that are driving 10 year old vehicles and working full time trying to pay the bills and for school. I download too but I don't blame it on anything other than it being convenient for me and wanting to save a buck.
I did go to college but unfortunately for me I really was a poor college student and my 89 camaro got too unsafe to drive to school and my 89 blazer kept breaking down and gas was going up so I had to drop out near the end of my 2nd year because I couldn't afford to go anymore and had missed too many days.

Again. Sorry if you misunderstood my point. I'm not here to pick enemies. I just couldn't see you as a Poor College Student when I know a bunch of people that really are.

I'm going to leave it at that and Let you have the last word. I had no intention to make you look like a bad person here. I don't think you are.

Dont let the smaller subs fool you. The lowest hitting sub I have ever had is in my truck right now and it is an 8" in 1 ft^3 tuned to 32.5 hz. I think it is mostly in matching the power of the amp with the sub and the box tuning.

Also interested in hearing how you like the memphis terry. Hope the install goes smoothly for you.
