Default Sub keeps blowing!

I have one kenwood excelon 12 behind the passenger seat. takes 1500 max watts. 350 rms. This will is the second time its blown. i've had my system for just over 8 months and blown 2 subs. I bought the system and had it installed at jackie cooper. The sub has a two year warranty, so replacement is free. Just an inconvenience!

How many watts are you running to it?

Not to be a dick, But maybe cuz its a kenwood. I am not a stereo wiz but i know that kenwood isnt that great of a company. Their head units are decent but thats about it IMO.

the excelon's are pretty good. that's their top model line. Sounds great. i bought a big amp so i could add a second sub down the road. they did the install so i'm not sure what its running. i know the gain is way way down. Maybe i should step up to a memphis? But the place sells jl, alpine, and kenwood.

Ya ive never had any experiences with kenwood subs personally. Just havent heard much good about them. If it were my choice and the shop only sells JL, Alpine, and kenwood then Id get JL in a heart beat if you can afford it. I have JL audio in my truck( W7 10 and 500/1 amp) And i love it. 1 of the cleanest and loudest subs ive ever heard. If you cant afford then Alpine for sure..

either A your amp isnt tuned right or B they have the sub/amp wired up wrong
what are the specs on the amp?

for example sony amps say they are a 1200 watt amp, however the maybe push a true 400 or so watts. just because your amp says its big doesnt mean that its actually pushing the watts it says.

there are a number of things that could be wrong here... if they bridged the amp too you may be putting too much power to the subs.

JL, Kicker, Alpine are good... there are alot of brands that alot of people dont know about too because they arent advertised also. Like Treo f/e. do some research on stuff before you purchase it just my .02
