You could wire in a new deck.

Yes, it does on the back, but you'll need an interface for it.

P.I.E makes them.

The other way to do it is FM Modulated with an FM Modulator, but that's extra stuff hanging around the truck, but also much cheaper. If you do go FM Modulated, see if you can find one that works through the antenna input. They are generally much cleaner of a signal as it will overpower the static from nearby stations. The wireless ones work good too, but you may get some fade. I bought a cheapo off of Ebay for $8.00.

Mabee I'm gettin old...but the new decks are just stupidly complex to operate. I shouldn't have to go through menus to change the bass/treble while driving.
I've got the Pioneer DEH-P77DH in mine. It's big, its clean, its easy to use and it still sounds great after all these years. Plus it has AUX in.

In the Bonneville I had the Premier DEH-P600UB which is an absolutely awesome reciever for the price...but the menus are a nightmare. Set it up, and leave it alone before you leave on your trip.
Sittin here in a box, basically brand new, waiting for the right car to put it in. Mabee the TA. ... naaah.

Here's a 77DH on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-DEH-P77D...item4aa699f1c1

Oh... and if you want the Ultimate in Clean and Simple - see the Nakamichi CD 700II http://www.nakamichi.com/home.html

If you use the P.I.E it plugs into the back of the stock stereo.
If you use the FM Modulator it's either wireless (Tune to a station) or it plugs into your antenna port on the back of your radio.

Then... your IPOD headphone output would plug into the PIE or FM Modulator.

I'd have to look at the installation diagram of the PIE adapter, but I would say yes.

Some of the adapters require power, but I believe there is reference voltage in the CD changer plug that it could use.

+1, I've been told that I'll finally be getting an IPOD for Christmas, and I too like to rock the factory deck, since the truck is a 99 and isn't single or double din, it's the damn GM 1.5 din that nobody makes a nav unit for that isn't a flip out. I like to keep it looking stock, and the single dins with the install kit...well, they look OK, but not as sleek as the factory look IMO. I'd probably get this radio repaired rather than replaced if it ever broke...(although I'm broke and would have to choose the cheapest route at this particular time lol)
