Default Sony Xplode?

I dont know if I spelled that right but oh well. OK so my friend told me that the Sony's arent that bad if you put them in a ported box. is that true? I've always thought they were crappy. But anyway He also told me they just came out with 1300 watt models. Does anyone have any experience with them? I might go get 2 12"s this weekend if I like them. Let me know.

1300 watts is their PEAK, 380 watts is what they can handle. Sony Xplods are loud, but sound really, really SHITTY no matter what box you put them in.

OK thanks thats what I thought, but my buddy keeps telling me how good they are. So at 1300w they must be overrated huh? What do you suggest for some mid-level 12's that hit hard?

If you put a true clean 1300watts of power it would rip the souroud. For not alot of money I like the type-e alpines, the infinity ref. line is also nice, or the JL W1's are a really good speaker for the money and dont take much air space

im not a fan of MTX, although I dont have much experience with them (we dont sell them, and no one really seems to bring them in on there own) but the cars ive heard with them dident really impress me. But if you like what you got, and just want a little more of it another one would probably do the trick as long as you have another amp...
