Default replacing AM FM Antennea

The antennae has been broke since I've bought my 04 Sierra. It's missing the mast and all off the fender, only thing there is the broke wire. I've bought a replacement but can't seem to figure out how to remove old one. I've traced it back to the HVAC under dash but can't see where it exits cab through firewall. If anybody had attempted or done this, please chime in with hints tips tricks or writeup please. Having no radio had gotten old.
