Default Remote Start Help

Just had a remote starter put on at best buy for christmas. Viper 160, on my 03 Avalanche. Here are the problems:

The lock on the new key fob almost never works. The unlock sometimes works.

When remote starting the alarm light on the dash stays lit the whole time. Goes off when I turn the truck off and will not show up if I start it with the key.

I have little trust in the best buy tech and have an appt. today morning @ 9. I would like to go in with the answer for him. Thanks

The bypass module is their Xpress Data XP01 module.

Yah I think you are right, my buddy had them put a system in for him, when we removed it to put a new one in, I couldn't believe the shortcuts they took, on running wires, ****.. It worked fine, for a while, but a butt connection came loose and it would work when it wanted to, what a mess.. I guess they are ok for the every day Joe...

i do these pretty much everyday and im positive

the module shoulda been a XK01 or a XK05

best buy doesnt solder the connection, they like to use "T" taps and scotchlocks and butt connectors

those lead to loose connections that can eventually sadly catch your ride on fire

i would get a refund and go to a specialty shop that solders connections and what not to ensure a proper install

at my shop we charge 329.95 for the 160 installed with keyless entree & remote start and then an additional 50 for the bypass module

not sure what best buy charged you but i assure you it was worth what youve paid for is its messing up

the lights on the dash should be on when RS is on because the RS is tied into parking lights

but im not 100% sure on what BB has got going on with your ride

It was the XK01 module, my fault on that. It is working great now they had to try a third module. They said the new ones they get are crap. I got an excellent price on it ($250 including bypass module). I agree about BB and have installed everything myself on my truck, stereo, blower all of it. However if you install it yourself it voids vipers warranty. Also I am moving from Oklahoma to Virginia in a few months and needed a nationwide company for warranty purposes. Plus it was an early Christmas gift. Thanks for your help. Hope it continues to work great.
