I sent an email to Probox and they are recommending their preloaded single 10" ported box... Said it would much harder than a dual 10" sealed.

Anybody have experience with them?

 

They make good stuff, and I assure you that a properly ported box with a single sub will sound much better than a sealed box. I prefer a single 12", though. That's just me.

Do any of your local/semi-local shops offer pre-loaded boxes? Sometimes, local shops will fab. their own boxes. With that being said, Pro-Box makes good stuff. Get one of their boxes and fill it with the proper sub, and you'll be happy.

 

I ran dual 10's in ported boxes, for a while, then cut the box a bit to fit a pair of 12" in my regular cab. I custom built and ported the boxes and tuned them to 30 hz. Couldn't move my seat all the way back, but it worked for what I needed.

 

One of the local shops can make a custom box, I just wasn't sure if it would be made to spec and the port would be ideal. I am going to call Probox today and try to decide whether I should get their pre-loaded single ported 10 or unloaded dual sealed 10 box.

If you said you listen to rap mostly then get a properly ported box. If you don't want to build your own, order the loaded probox and call it a day.

 

I had 2 12" kicker cvx in a custom box from my local audio shop with dd cm1 amp it beat down was hitting 141.0 db on the front glass then sold it and got pioneer b-flats best shallow mount subs on the market will put the cvt's to shame

 

two jl's in the back is all you need

 

I also have a reg cab short bed gmc dropped, it's best to go with regular subs not shallow mount subs. I like to keep my systems clean looking, in the dash I have the pioneer AVH-P4300 7" screen, in the doors I have JL Audio c3 6.5's component set in the stock location with tweeters next to the mid angled up behind the stock speaker grills powered by a JL Audio 4 channel mounted under the passenger seat. For rear fill I have punch 4x6's in the rear pillars running off the amp. For subs I'm running 2 JL Audio 10w3v3's being pushed by a JL Audio 500.1 amp all mounted behind the seat between the subs, the subs sit really low so there is tons of leg room and it hits hard as hell and the mids and hi's are super loud and clear. It's simple yet loud and clear..
