here's a hint:
the courtesy lights are on a battery saver timer, they lose power after 15 minutes of no activity (no one opens door etc.) If you tap them for power it'll shut itself off after that time. If you have remote keyless, upon unlocking the truck with the remote interior lights have power restored, radar detector goes through annoying strartup sequence before you even get in the truck.... just a thought.

I actually ran a dedicated hot wire from the fuse panel after running it like that for a while. I can't remeber why, but I didnt like the way it worked. It did something funky.

Only problem with that is your courtesy light goes off while you are driving so your radar detector wont be on :judge:

:werd: Yes that was the prob I had too. You had to hit the damn button to get it back on.

The timer feature (I will call it the light override feature) has some funky characteristics as well. I wired the light on the inside of my tonneau cover in to the factory bed light. If I leave a door open and the light override feature kicks on, the tonneau light will come on by itself (without the bed light) until I open and shut a door to turn off the light override feature. It has something to do with the polarity of the wires....I believe that when the light override feature is off, both wires coming out of the bed light switch are hot (+12V). When you switch the light on, one grounds, and you have electricity flow and the light comes on. If you leave the light on and the light override thingy kicks on, it grounds both wires. The point is that unless you leave a light on and there is current draw, the light override will not kick on.
