Google "ispec" . . . . it's the adapter that I have for mine, and it works great with the factory radio

with what you are seeking for wireless control of the iPod I have no other suggestion, I was thinking typical user, which it would work for, and I see what you are saying and it simply wouldn't do everything that you are looking to do, best of luck in finding something that will work

I know someone with a Parrot in his '04 Escalade, there's a plug in harness ready to go for his, with the LUX Bose system, bound to be one for you, depending on which radio you have.

theres a scoshe unit that integrates ipods via bluetooth. I would need the cd port > aux adapter which crutchfield offers for $70 and then half the scoshe unit plugs into that aux port in the dash and the other half connects to the ipod through the 3.5mm jack (head phone jack). I did not like this set up as much because:
a) it does not integrate the phone in at all
b) rather than a small 'chip' plugging into the bottom of the ipod, you have a decent sized blue tooth 'block' dangling from the ipod via a short cable.

Theres got to be some kind of combination to achieve what im hoping for (cell phone integrated through truck speakers, ipod wirelessly connected to stereo hopefully without dangly bluetooth block)

nothing will be as good as having a cable hooked up to give you digital sound....although bluetooth is the latest and greatest in wireless technology it is still prone to airborn wave such as static from radio and cell phone towers, etc......and i doubt you would get much signal by a hospital with it(at least you dont with a satellite radio)

a cable hook up would eliminate all this and it is what i have run for 2 years now with no problems whatsoever....

yea i think im going to scrap the bluetooth idea...maybe in a year or 2 or 3 when technology improves. i called crutchfield about some hardwiring setups and theres the Periferal and the USA Spec. He recommended the Periferal because, according to him, you get 100% control of the ipod on the STOCK head unit. I have never heard of 100% control but according to him you can use all the various buttons on the stock head unit to flip through everything from artists, songs, playlists, etc. If he is not BS'n i guess i can hide the ipod and sort of be 'wireless.' Im a bit skeptical of this though, he also referred to me that i would need two $20 adapters. I got the part numbers, looked em up and one was so i can keep my cd changer port (i dont need this) and the other was to keep XM (i dont have xm) so im afraid he might have just been trying to make a sale.
