Default NNBS - Swap to factory navigation?

My buddy has a 2013 with a factory single din. He is wanting to buy a factory navigation unit and swap it into his.

I think it would be hard to find one to purchase but maybe he can find a totaled truck.

Anyways I know on pioneer units you have a security code. Does anyone know if he wanted to swap in a unit would he need to get the vin number or anything from the previous truck? I am sure he needs to cd or something. I would imagine its plug and play also.

Thank you!

U need to buy an adapter harness since the original truck radio connections are different. Other than that, find a good tech to unlock the radio.

Yes. Takes a while though, first time I took it the tech unlocked the radio but no volume. Had to go again and bug them, he finally took some time and got it working correctly. If you need any help, pm me. I just did the swap myself.
