Default New Motor, how to change mileage on gauge cluster?

I currently have an '04 Silverado w/ 248,000m. I've seemed to blow a hole in both sides of my oil pan! So I'm going to order a used motor from LKQ w/ 150k+. Now my problem is I don't know how/what I need to do in order to fix the electronic mileage readout bf I sell it! I've been told to buy a used cluster w/ approximately the same mileage as my new motor.. Is that going to change my current 250k to some what of what the new motor has on it? Or should am I going to need to replace the CPU/ECU? Thanks guys!!

Dude that's not cool to sell a truck that has a 200k + on it and drop a newer used motor in it and say it has 100k

My truck has 230 but my motor has 15k do I put my miles to that?

Sorry man

I got burnt on a situation like this last year- I bought a Audi that had 130k and went to sell it, the guy did a car fax on it - it was totaled at 225k and was in for a oil change at 92k again - needless to say mileage fraud is a bitch and I got burnt

To change the mileage in the cluster it has to be programmed by a speedometer repair shop or the dealer.

They will not alter it just because you swapped engines with less mile's. That's technically illegal.

Just show the buyer that you purchased a used engine with less mileage and avoid the trouble.

Default non scammer lol

Sorry, maybe I came across wrong with that!! Im buying a motor with less miles on it and I just want the odometer to match the miles on the motor. I was going to try and trade it in.. but was going to document the bf/after mileage on the motor and the frame. So the frame would say EX: 248,000, and the motor would be 156,101. I wouldn't try and mislead anyone! I just want everything to match,or at least be close to the actual mileage. Of course the chassis and motor are going to be different. But I don't want them automatically looking at the odometer and say ohh hell no!! It has way too many miles when in all reality it is the chassis with the majority of the miles! Ive been burnt myself and I wouldn't put that on anyone else! I just wasn't sure how to go about documenting everything other than just on my word. thank you for your advise tho! I didn't think of it like that!!!

Most likely they will check the background and see that it has been altered.

That will be another reason for them not to touch it.
