Default My Christmas gift to myself...

I don't have a gf at the moment so I was able to spend a little money on myself for Christmas.

I just installed a Pioneer AVIC-N2 NAV/DVD HU, the voice recognition pack, 12 disk CD changer, and a back-up cam.

I know it doesn't make it run any better but it's still a cool toy. Like I said, no gf but atleast I can talk to my truck and it talks back to me.

Here's some pics:

oh wow thats really cool. How well does the voice thing work? Does it mix up the words often?

the backup cam is a cool idea too.. can you zoom in or stuff or is it just a stationary camera?

The voice pack doe a pretty good job at recognizing my voice. It will make a mistake every now and then but you just say "back" and it goes back to where you were. It's really handy for controlling the CD changer, example, you can tell it "disk 6, track 10" it will repeat that back to you and then control the changer.

The camera is stationary. It's just there to keep me from backing over objects that are too small to see behind me, you know like Hondas, Toyotas, ect Seriously, tha Avalanche has terrible rear visibility.

The NAV is the best part. I took it on a 180 mile trip last weekend to a place that I had never been and the route had a lot of 2 lane roads. It took me right to the parking lot of the address that I had entered without a single wrong turn. It interupts the music and tells you "right turn in one half mile" and then "right turn ahead" so on and so on.

My wife talks back enough, its kind of peaceful to hop in my truck and hear wining tires and flomaster drone. But if my truck could talk Im sure it bitch at me for spining my tires and trying to race every civic I see, just like the wife.

The head unit runs about $1300+shipping online. I think the CD changer was $159 or $169 +shipping. The Voice pack was only about $40. I was going to post a link to the place I bought mine from but they have sold out of them. Those prices are about 30% lower than the local audio shop.

Here's the cam that I'm using:

It's nothing special with the screen in, it looks like a regular HU. I don't have a dig camera, I always use my office's, but I'm getting one Christams. I'll try to get one and post it the day after.
