high outout alternator

Just make sure you fuse the wire going from the battery to the alt as it is a fusable link from the factory. I also have a 200A alt on my truck but had it built from a 145A (bigger) housing. Dont know about now but back when I had it built they were around $1 per amp.

Since like 2000 any nbs silverado or tahoe had the factory option of the 105 or 145 amp alt. Just walk in the parts store tell em to look ya up an alternator. They will ask if you have the 105 or 145. 145 bolts right up and only needs a longer belt to work.

That's how mine was built, I got mine from a NAPA, we worried when we pulled it out of the box, but the 145A sized alternator will bolt right in where the 105A alternator was, same bolt pattern, it's just physically much bigger. I think that the belt I used was something like stock +3/4 or 1 inch ... iirc

What are the big 3 you all are referring to? Just buying the wire and doing it yourself or are there kits out there? Switched my 04 to e-fans and am now wanting to start stereo upgrades, so I'm wanting to ditch the 105.
