Well I finally got around to installing my deck (Kenwood KDC-MP628) with the module/harness I mentioned before, everything works fine, but the chime is LOUD. The instructions have a way to quiet the chimes, by cutting a jumper inside the module, but I tossed them so I guess I can deal w/it.

I'm just going to try the generic harness, my door chimes have never worked anyway

Good Choice.. its not worth the extra money for the chime and having a switch wire waiting there for you.. Just find your switched wire and you are ready to go..
