Default Head unit

I'm looking to upgrade my factory single cd head unit to a factory 6 disc head unit. Not sure if all of the 6 disc are bose or not. Does it matter if they are? Would those plug into my factory single cd wiring? The single cd just looks to plain for as nice as the truck is and I just wanna clean it up somewhat. I'm going to be adding the steering wheel controls as well, but thats down the road. I coudnt find the EXACT truck i wanted, but with a little know how and other stock parts, I can make it however I want to. The head unit doesn't have to be a bose unit, but if it will work, woudnt it generally produce a better sound? I"m upgrading the speakers as well. Not to factory bose, but with something thats a few steps above factory.

Not sure if the stock 6 discs are bose or not. But if they are bose then typically they won't work unless you have the bose amps hooked up to the bose head unit. As far as sound quality the bose systems are "ok" for a factory stock system. Thats about it. If you wanting to spend the money on aftermarket speakers you might as well spend the money or find a used aftermarket headunit for the best sound.

I cannot stand the way an aftermarket head unit looks in those truck, my opinion, sorry to all who have them. The factory ones look just look the cleanest.

there's double din CD players out there that hold 6 discs internally, none of them however will just plug into your factory harness, you typically have to use an assortment of wiring harnesses & some basic wiring skills...and chances are you will also need a converter like the GMOS-04 or GMOS-01 to retain your factory security chimes & some speedometer/instrument cluster functions

I have to disagree. I think my head unit (Kenwood DPX503) is really clean looking and I have had several people tell me the same thing. It has Mp3, iPod, USB, and CD capabilities. Who needs 6 discs with an iPod ? It has hookups for XM/Sirius, too. The only thing it doesn't have is Navigation, but I have a portable GPS. I found it on eBay around last spring for $200.

To each their own. No offense, but I do not like that way that looks, nor any other DD radio's i've seen in these trucks. Not being a *****, just my opinion. Don't have an Ipod so I really don't care about the hookup and already have an external sirius receiver. Nm. I'll just find out for myself whether or not one works. Thanks.
