Default Flex a lite e fans!!! easy install or not?

Hey guys i just bought flex a lite e fans for my 02 silverado with 5300. Now, as far as the assembly i can do that but the wiring is what scares me alot. I know if i rush it's screwed, so is this an easy install or not?? i got the fans for $340.00 shipping included.

There are a couple of guys on here and even Nelson Performance====> (sponsor) that will build you a harness for a little $$. They should work for the flex a lites also.

Default The install was nothing..

I got a harness from nelson. Wiring your own wouldnt be too bad either. His harness just keeps the "stock" look. Youll breeze through the fan install and the wiring with a harness.

throw the vsc crap that came with the fans in the trash and PM white1 about a wiring harness. the vsc will leave you stranded like it did me, and several other members.

The fans themselves are good. Easy install, infact the hardest part of the process was removing the old clutch fan. But a big wrench and a hammer made that come off

That VSC thingy is just more trouble than its worth. I skipped dealing with it, bought a Nelson harness and have had zero trouble since day one.

Somewhat considering doing this in the medium-term (not right away though). How much do the Nelson harnesses cost? Anything necessary besides what Flex-a-Lite provides and the harness?

Also, just poking around on flex-a-lite.com I noticed mention of "quicker warm up". Regrettably I have to take a lot of short trips in my truck after it's sat a while....can see that really helping the mileage A LOT, especially given that I'll sometimes drive an extra mile or two to get the truck up to operating temp so as not to abuse it with the short trips. Is the quicker warm-up just academic or something I'd really notice?

Edit...just noticed this was in stereo/electronics....so I might have taken this a bit too far off topic...oops.

I installed flexalite's in my 04 GMC 6.0L and it was fairly easy. I used the VSC and it has not had any trouble yet, maybe 3 months old max. I am curious though about this Nelson harness. What is the point of it? Is it just a wiring harness to save the trouble of making your own or is it to hook to the PCM to eliminate the VSC and have it fully computer controlled? Reason I ask is that I don't like the way it comes on and off all the time with A/C or defroster. I also don't want to manually overide it because it can overheat the a/c quickly without air movement. Does this Nelson harness help this issue??

VSC here too. With the upgraded fuse connection, the reliability should be resolved. Haven't heard many people talk about the melting problem once they get the new fuse holder from Flex (for free). If you got the VSC in the past year or so it should already have the updated one.

Some instructions if you want to go the VSC route: http://bertok.us/agreif/fans/fanstech.htm

it hooks up to the fans, 12 volt positive and a ground (preferrably in fuse box), ac condenser clutch activator, and one pcm pin, it is just a wiring harness that makes it look factory, it does require a change to the pcm, pin 57 or something has to be changed by someone who can mod your pcm, just as nelson performance, there are pics and pricing on nelson's website. http://nelsonperformance.com or something
