door locks wont work
#1
here is the thing. my power door lock/power mirror fuse keeps blowing. i have tried unplugging both mirrors to see if it was a short in the mirror(s) and it wasnt. so now what? what else should i try? the windows roll up and down perfect and at a rapid pace. could it be the power door lock actuator? someone told me to check the kicker panel cause something wires can be crossed in there. also, is there a reason why my remote for my keyless entry only works if im within five feet from the truck, even with a new battery in it? any advice you guys can give on how to get my power door locks and mirrors to work again would be MUCH appreciated.

does the door locks blow fuses when you press lock or unlock or when the truck is simply turned on? if the lock are actually what are blowing the fuse then they are grounded out somewhere. the actuator wires do run through the kicks on both sides but unless you have tampered with wires there it is unlikely that thats where it is grounding out. more likely it is grounding out in the door somewhere which will require you do remove your door panels to take a look at the actuators themselves. could be something as simple as a screw through one of the wires when someone installed speakers or needing new actuators bc they are grounding out on the inside...let us know what you find and maybe we can help you out more.

like i said its more than likely in the doors somewhere. i would take each door panel off and visually trace the wire from the actuator to the rubber gromet where the wires go from the door to the body of the truck. if the wire looks good and you cant see any of it touching metal somewhere then i would get a new actuator and try it....that is really the only two things it would probably be, either the wire or the actuator.....

As 53bowtie mentioned, I'd check the door harnesses...particularly the driver's side door harness. The wires and wire insulation in there have a tendency to break over time from the constant movement/bending from the door opening and closing, and can short together.
