I currently have an alpine 9853 hu. Im loking to upgrade the front door speakers to furthure enhance the sound quality. Im looking at the polk db6500 component speakers. Is this something i can run off my hu, or should i just invest in an amp. The speakers handle 10-100 rms, while the hu pumps out 18 rms. I think i just answered my own question, however let me know what y'all think. Thanks.

well you could run them off your HU... but amping them would make a world of difference. So I say get an amp to match them, it will be worth it.

 

I wouldent say you could run them off the deck.... You can make them play music but you wont have enough power to even make them move hardly. You stock speakers or even some $50 pioneers will sound better then the componets with out a amp, but ON a amp componets are awsome

 

Thats what i was thinking, thanks for the replies everybody. Now i just gotta keep my eye on the classified section.
