Default AVIC-D3 install in 05 silverado

Im almost finished with the install of the AVIC-D3 in my 05 Silverado Crew cab. Ive got to trim inside the dash a bit so it will sit flush but the wiring and bypass are done. Does anybod know what color and where the VSS wire is on this truck? The GPS is a little off from this wire not being hooked up so I need to get it hooked up but cant seem to find which one it is. Thanks for the help.

This isnt going to do much good, but if memory serves me correct on those GMRC01 and GMOS01 harness or whatever one you used, the one with the chimebox on it, there should be a VSS wire you can use.

Ok, everything is wired up and working perfectly. The avic-d3 is an awesome setup I love it!

-On the wiring harness I opted not to pay $130 just so my doors would still chime. I bought the $7 kit. lol. I had to wire a switch wire but that was it. The radio doesnt stay on until you open the doors with the key off and the doors dont ding when opened. The courtsey lights still are functional so Im not concerned about the doors.

-On the VSS, I took the panel off under the steering wheel and right behind that is 3-4 main wiring harness's. The one closest to the ac controls is a small black connector with 3 wires in it. The green wire in that harness was the VSS

-The bypass was real easy, just take the mute wire pin pull it out of the connector and move it to the empty slot above where it was. Then ground the mute wire and parking brake wire and the bypass is done

- As far as fitting, Theres a couple places I had to cut behind the radio so it would sit back far enough in the dash.

Ill try to take it back apart this weekend and get some pics

Oh God! Don't do that! I just did this install and it is a pain to get that thing back in after taking it out!

Just wondering...did you have a problem with the illumination? The Metra GMOS-04 wiring harness has an orange wire for illumination (so the HU knows when the headlights are on so it can dim) and an orange/white wire for dimmer. I tried both these wires and got nothing! So with furthur inspection I noticed the illumination wire was matching up to NOTHING (no connection) in the stock wiring harness! So I opted to simply run a wire behind the cluster to the headlight switch, works great now!
