"Automotive cable" vs Welding cable?

The welding cable will work fine, but as stated it will corrode over time. It has less strand count than stereo grade wire. The stereo grade wire has more current capability than the welding wire, and will not corrode. You can find the stereo grade wire a bit cheaper than $8/ft.

what size wire are you looking for that's 8$/ft depending on how much amperage your pushing through the vehicle i don't see you needing more than 4ga. 1/0 ga. isn't overkill just typically unnecessary

Another thing to consider is the fact that stereo wire has better insulation that welding wire in most cases.

Oxygen free cable will corrode at the ends just the same as welding cable. There's no jacket at the connection points!

Welding cable is usually 600V rated - I'm using it for my stereo..
