Default Anybody install an in-dash unit themselves?

I have an Alpine unit I bought off 2toneblown about 6 months ago along with a JL Audio 12W7 and they have been sitting in my closet I think Im going to attempt install of the screen this weekend. I have installed overhead screens with dvd/ps2/xbox's but never an indash unit and the wiring seems to be a bit different. There are wires EVERYWHERE. I dont ahve any instructions or anything to go by. Im going to try and figure it out but was wondering if anyone had any advice or a wiring diagram for the factory colors on the wiring harness Im positive I will need that. Its an Alpine IVA-D300 if that makes any difference.

its been a while but i think i had to buy(cant remember if it came with it) the wiring harness and i believe that all the wires were labeled so wiring the harness and then plugging the harness in was no big deal. i'll say this though, there is not much room in the dash and the harness and rca's kept trying top pop the deck back out so i had to wiggle the wires around for like 30 minutes before i could finally put the deck in smoothly. also make sure the wires arent blocking the deck's amplifier fan(if it has it) on the back. deck will get pretty hot quick. and if you have big hands like i do you can expect your hands to look like you've been sticking them in a bag of razor blades....that could also be because i hurry too and dont try to avoid the sharp metal

if you need any help i can talk you thru it. i use to do it for a living. you should buy a harness that will plug into your factory radio plug so you wont have to cut any wires. most of it is going to be color for color

Yeah I have installed every kind of mobile audio/vid except this. I am going to buy another conversion harness so I will still have the old setup for my pioneer deck in case I need it.

I was up under there looing around and damn I still have sand inside my truck from back in July when I went to the beach

haha if it has a brain box it will have wires that go from the head unit to the box and then from the box out to where you need to wire it up to your factory wiring. also make sure you get rid of that thing where you have to have the emergency brake smashed to watch tv. i think you can just ground that wire
