Dont know about thread. But remove antenna from roof weld up hole, repaint roof, Get any Xm antenna that is magnetic plug it into the xm receiver behind the glove box, stick it on top of the dash, or remove the cowl vent panel under the windshield and experiment with locations till you find a spot it works in.

The XM is received through the sharkfin. I never listen to FM now that I have XM so all I did was unscrew the FM antenna and buy a $10 Escalade cowl piece to cover the hole left where the FM antenna was.

If you want crappy FM reception still, then you need to unbolt the antenna bracket from the fender and lay the antenna down inside the fender. I did this on my old truck that didn't have XM, but the FM reception quality went way down.

I just went to PepBoys and bought a little shorty antenna "top" to replace the factory antenna.
