Default 99 stock head unit...does it have external amp?

99 stock head unit (not bose)...does it have external amp? I am getting read to intall a couple of Aura amps off the stock unit. Do I need to find the external on a stock single cd? or do I just run my hi to low-RCA right off the back....????

Thanks for all the help.

I'm not sure if there is an amp on that or not, but I don't think it really matters. I just ran my line level converter off of the head unit and I have the bose. I would think that is the best place to get the signal from either way.

99 stock (non-bose) don't have the amp. I was wondering though I have always been told that it is better to change out your stock radio for an aftermarket one when upgrading your system. I know an aftermarket headunit produces more power, but is it a significant difference?

Aftermarket head units usually use better componentry (transports, DACs, etc), but the other thing is that they usually have line level pre-outs to connect to an amp, thus you no longer need a line level converter. Think of it this way, your factory h.u. amplifies the signal internally which you then run into a line level converter which then defeats this amplification to give you a line level rca output to go to the amp.
