I had two Memphis M Class 12s in my 03 silverado RC they sounded gread and i only had to move my seat a couple of inchs forward. I had the same concern because im about 6'7" and needed all of the leg room i could get.

I'm running 2 10's behind my seat wired in parallel at a 2 ohm load. I got plenty of room with the .65 cu. ft. boxes I made for them. For dual voice coils; get dual 2 ohm speakers. Wire the coils in series and the speakers in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. For most amps bridged in 2 ohm mode is the lowest you want to go; most aren't up to 1 ohm 'cuz you'll fry it in no time. Most can handle a 2 ohm safely. I got a Rockford Fosgate amp and it works great at 2 ohms. For 12's though you're gonna have to be creative with the box to keep some legroom and will have to use a sealed box because there isn't near enough room for ported behind the seats unless you put them in the bed with a blow through.

I knew a guy who had an Explorer with 2 12" Treo's of unknown series in enclosures of about 3 cubic feet. Paired with a 200 watt Pheonix Gold amp and a Kenwood bass cube you could hear that guy coming half mile away. It literally vibrated the roof of the explorer up and down about an inch.

I have 2 12" Rockford Fosgate P2's behind my bucket seats and they hit really hard. I am 5'10" and I don't have to hug the steering wheel at all. I have my amp mounted on the box in-between the speakers.

sorry for the late response, i havn't checked this in a while. i did do a write up on mine, but it's long gone. you can see more pics of mine in my "photo gallery" on fullsizechevy.com"
the cut and boot is easy. mine is attatched to my cab and sits about 1" off the bed. so my box never touches the bed, even with frame flex.
advantages- no leaks, cab has gained strength instead of losing.
i had to cut the bed, cut the cab 1" smaller than bed cut. take bed off, drop gas tank, remove frame front x member (front of bed area), take rear wheels off and set jackstands under axle. i made the box and reenforcement plate. attatched plate, "set bed on". put box in, took some measurements, pulled box out took bed off. put box in, reset it added extra bracing, tacked them in place, removed box and plate. welded bracing. permanantly attatched plate, put box in and perm attatched it. shot it with herculiner bed liner (don't use cheap stuff, it sucks, will crack, water will ruin your box). slid bed on under box. put x member back in, put gas tank back in.
treo's are great subs. you can beat the hell out of them day in and out, with more than their rated power and they take it. apples to apples, JL killers. what some would call "pricey", but you get what you pay for.

How about 3 of these.

"The problem is simple: There’s little room for a subwoofer in a pickup truck. With the undeniable popularity of pickups and SUVs these days, something had to be done. We live and play everyday with our trucks and suffering through a bland sound system at a tailgate party is no way to have a good time.
Solution: Introducing the Premier® TS-SW124D shallow subwoofer from Pioneer, featuring a revolutionary design with just 4" total depth (just 3-1/4" mounting depth!). This revolutionary new subwoofer provides the body-rumbling bass of a fullsize 12-inch sub in a package that fits almost anywhere, especially behind a seat!"
Also the recommended sealed enclosure is a mere 0.6 cubic feet, the smallest of any Pioneer subwoofer currently available.
Expect to pay between $100 to $140 each.
Laters.
