04 chevy stereo

I bought a 04 silveraldo w/o the bose. What should I do to make it sound as good as a bose system and keep the factory cd? I would also like to if anyone knows where thr speaker wires run at. Btw if I put a small amp in it what kind do I use so I can still be able to adjust the speakers threw the radio, meaning the balance front - rear and left - right. One more thing from what I've read the factory cd is a 4 ohm and some aftermarket 6.5" are 2 ohm will it matter?

I would replace all the speakers with a mid grade aftermarket speaker and you should be happy. My friend put all new 6.5 phoenix golds that i had sitting in my shop for a few years in his truck and it sounded really clean. I would try to stick with 4 ohm speakers and you wont have a problem. The lower the ohm the more power gets to the speakers but the harder it is on the amp or head unit. Hope this helps

x2 on 4 ohm mid grade components. You will need to add a sub to get your low frequencys I would go with a 8" if your wanting something that will be better than a factory bose sub.
You can go two ways with the amp situation. either a 5 channel amp (4 channels to power your mids and highs and a dedicated channel to power your sub) Or a single mono block amp to power your sub and run your mids and highs off of the factory head unit.
I would recomend the 5 channel option so you know your doors are getting plenty of power. You MAY not be satisfied with the sound other wise. But it all depends on how much you want to spend. The car audio portion of mods can get really expensive and addictive at the same time. What is your price limit you want to stay in?

I don't really know how much things are. I was thinking around 500.00 I want to keep my factory head unit becouse I want to keep the factory appearance of the interior. When hooking up a amp where do the door speaker wires run, are they under the carpet? thinking about the Infinity Kappa 6.5"speakers, should I get the 2 or 3 way speakers?

You can get a good 4 channel amp for $150 or less. Some decent Compoments for about $100 a set. You also need a High to low converter. Idk if you buy on ebay but here is the item number to a 4 channel high to low
360220150573 also that same seller has everything else you would need for the amp for really cheap. I believe the speaker wires run underneath the carpet near the door sills. ( not 100% beacuase i dont have the exact same vehicle) I would normally say try to use the least amount of the stock speaker wire you can but since your not going to be going to crazy with wattage you can run all you speaker wires from your amp up behind the dash and tie into the stock wires. Ne one who says to not use the stock wires is right if your doing an all out system but for a modest system it is fine. Hope this helps. Also idk what brand of amp you are looking for but in my truck I have a 1800 crunch for my high and it works awesome. Good quality amp for the price. I usually only use us amps for all my amps but ill make an exception for a 4 channel.
