Exclamation Wrecked my bike!

Well, my bicycle! I have a bike that I have been riding around for a couple weeks till I get to come home and get back on my real bike. I figured its been a good workout, well yesteray I'm riding down the road and the front tire FALLS off just fell off It didnt have a nut holding it on. It had a little handle that sticks out and it tightens it down. Apparently it came loose! Got some pretty cool road rash but I cant upload any pics oh well! A week and a half and

those things are called quick releases and as foolproof as they appear the little bastards will come loose and when your front tire gets more than an 1/8" of space the tire will fall out. its worse with cantilever brakes because the little bastard wont let the wheel completely out, talk about cluster ****. most downhill guys use a spindle type suspension like the cannondale lefty which wont come loose. i used to work at an REI in the bike shop and i'd get 2-3 bikes a week with broken quick releases.
