Where did you find it at?

Are there still people living in the travel trailers on teh Gov. tab? I remember when Iwas driving to and from N. AL to TX there were a bunch of little mini cities with a bunch of those plain white travel trailers in them.

FEMA trailer parks are still up and running...

Every once in a while the local news does an interview with the residents. You'll get Yolanda and her 7 kids on screen, she'll be whining about how her home in the projects was flooded and how the gov't owes it to her, then she'll go on with how she can't find "no job" (people are hiring everywhere, no education required) and how she goes to N.O. on the La. Swift (free shuttle service from Baton Rouge to N.O.) every other week to look for a new apartment so that her and her family can settle down back to their lives. Now think about it: This crack head baby factory was living in the projects, everything she had was destroyed, she owns NOTHING in N.O. and had no insurable property to recieve compensation from. Now N.O. is the ONLY place that she can call home or get a job and she will just have to sit on her welfare collecting *** until she gets back into an apartment or other rental structure??? They won't move on with their lives, they want the gov't to rebuild the places that they "stayed" so that they can collect their check, instead of taking this opportunity by the horns and launching ahead of where they were. What's the excuse for living in a trailer rent free for the last year and still not having a dime in savings to show for it? By this time, even replacing possessions they should easily have a nice deposit/ down payment for a place of their own.... no excuses. Hey Houston, ya'll were so welcoming this time last year, how about we send a few thousand more your way?

I saw a segment on the morning news the other week about some Katrina folk from New Orleans living in Houston saying that if FEMA cut off their support they would resort to violence and “taking matters in to their own hands”. Why waste all that energy on being an idiot when you can go out and get a job? FYI about two weeks after I had my truck I was at Kroger getting some groceries. I walked out to see a guy trying to take my tail gate off. It turned into a bit of a scuffle (can you believe he actually fought back like it was his property?). Anyway luckily there was a police officer in the parking lot and the man was detained. Turns out he was from New Orleans living posted up in some apartments on the south side. The officer said he knew of the apartments and that the majority of folk living there were Katrina victims.

Speaking as a New Orleans native, I can agree that there is a HIGH percentage of citizens that live in the projects that think the government OWES them something. Not saying that all residents of public housing are of the bad element & lazy, but most are. It bothers me that there are so many people that choose to not work. As far as they're concerned, living off of government benefits is living on "easy street". I hope the government takes the "free" money away sooner. If after one year you haven't shown ANY initiative to get off your *** and find A JOB, tough ****. Within the first few months, there were certified teachers biting the bullet, and working at fast food restaurants b/c that was the only means of income to take care of family. Those living in TX, MS, and other areas, riding out that free money til the end of January will be up **** creek when the deadline comes. I'm gonna my *** off!.

As for Spike, I can't remember all 4+ hours of that long *** documentary, but I do remember there being lots of complaining about the levees, and how people had no way out of N.O. Yes, there were lots that had no transportation out, and sure, local government could've, would've, should've had an evac plan in place for something like this. blah blah blah. Nice thought to give the people of N.O. their say, but... blah... tired of hearing about.

I'm done.

How about the people around Laurel or Tuckers Crossing?
My dad has a Concrete Plant in Laurel and the Manager that runs it is good friends with my dad. 5 days after Katrina my dad finally got a hold to the Manager.

He said that his family and all his close neighbors were ok. But food, water, and ice were runnin low really quick. No support from the Gov yet. We get several people from our church together and loaded several trucks and trailers loaded with Food, Water, Ice, Electrical supplies, and clothes. We used our own money for gas to get down there. We spent several thousands of dollars for all that stuff we took down there.

We left at 3:30 Saturday morning, we got down there and helped as many familes as we possible could that weekend. Me and my dad reinstalled several Electricity Services on houses so the elderly could have power. That community helped each other as much as they could.

That Sunday before we left 2 FEMA 18trailers showed up, one had MREs and Water. The other had ICE, alot of it. We unloaded what we were told to. The rest was delivered to some places in Louisana.

So yea the Goverment could have done a better job at helping get people up and goin. But i cant stand the people like you guys are talkin bout.. After 14 months and they have nothing to show for what they recieved. That is just stupid.

If some people acctually had Common Sense and not so Spoiled, This might be a situation they could learn from... BUt NOO. They are just too stupid. If they werent so selfish and like yall said, get a freakin Job to keep their family alive.

Heck my great-grandpa ran moonshine to keep his family and neighors alive through the depression. I guess its just the way some were raised? If some one was raised with nothing and wanted something they would work to get where they are goin. but some are just spoiled..

I believe it would be different if they wanted to get on their feet. But sittin around blowing their Free money, That just goes to show you what kindof people they are huh?
